Supporting a Learner Community with Software Agents

چکیده
This paper describes a multiagent approach that aims at supporting learners involved in a collective activity. We consider pedagogical situations where students have to explicitly define the articulation of their collective work and then achieve the different tasks they have defined. Our objective is to support these students by taking some of these tasks in charge whilst making them work out such organisation features. For this purpose, we propose to consider that the group of students forms a multiagent system and to introduce software agents that can achieve some of the tasks within this group. This conducts students to tackle the problem in terms of human and software agent coordination. We present how this approach can be conceptualized and modelled using Engeström’s triangle, how task delegation can be used as a means to enable students to define the software agents’ behaviour and the multi-agent implementation we propose.

Pedagogical agent models for massive online education
The effective implementation of Massively Open Online Courses poses fascinating challenges. We address two such challenges using an agent based approach, employing formal specifications to articulate an agent design which can later be used for software development. The challenges addressed are: 1) How can a learner be provided with a personalised learning experience? 2) How can a learner make b...
متن کاملPedagogical agents for social music learning in Crowd-based Socio-Cognitive Systems
This paper considers some of the issues involved in building a crowdbased system for learning music socially in communities. The effective implementation of building such systems provides several fascinating challenges if they are to be sufficiently flexible and personal for effective social learning to take place when they are large number of users. Based on our experiences of building the inf...
متن کاملModel-It: A Case Study of Learner-Centered Software Design for Supporting Model Building
Learner-centered software design (LCSD) guides the design of tasks, tools, and interfaces in order to support the unique needs of learners: growth, diversity and motivation. This paper presents a framework for LCSD and describes a case study of its application to the ScienceWare Model-It, a learner-centered tool to support scientific modeling and simulation. The complex task of constructing and...

Introduction: Supporting process refers to the creation of temporary learning structures which lead to increase the adaptability of learners with a special learning position. In teaching, the method of relying on individual knowledge with more knowledge provides support or support for facilitating learner’s progress. For this reason, the aim of this paper is to address the issue of rehabil...
